The Wilson Central baseball team took on the Hendersonville Commandos at home on Tuesday, April 27th.
Isaac Schafer would get the start once again for the Wildcats and Ryan Oden got the start for the Commandos. Both pitchers would dominate through the first two innings. However, in the top of 3rd, the Commandos would get their offense going with a RBI single from Joe Dalton. Wilson Central would answer back in the bottom of the 4th with an RBI single from Isaac Schafer that would score two. After 4 innings, Wilson Central led by a score of 2-1. Neither team would score in the 5th, however, Hendersonville would tie the game at 2 after Schafer walked home a batter. Tristan Lewis would come in for Schafer in the 7th and quickly took care of the Commandos with a four pitch inning. With both teams deadlocked at 2 runs a piece, the game was headed for extra innings. In the top of the 8th, Hendersonville would take the lead with an RBI single from William Pfaffman. Headed into the bottom of the 8th, the Wildcats trailed by a run. Mason Reed would lead off that inning for the Cats with a stand up triple. Hunter Williams would hit a sac fly to deep left centerfield to score him. The game was now tied with 2 outs for Mckane Everett. Everett would draw a walk and after a single from Lewis, Ben Sills would come to the plate with the winning run in scoring position. On a 3-1 count, Sills would hit a hard ground ball to left field which would score Everett’s pinch runner, Drew Jones from second base winning the game 4-3.
