The Wilson Central Sports Information Department is seeking to increase their student participation. At the present time (March 2021) the Department has 25-30 students composed of 9-12th graders participating in a classroom setting.   In order to maintain and increase what the Sports Information Department provides to WCHS, its athletes and community, it is seeking to increase its membership.  Below are links for further information and application to join.

WHY a student and their parent should consider becoming a member of the (SID) department.

1. TN Promise hours are available.
2. Elective Focus for graduation.
3. To help provide assistance to local media outlets, post social media, and provide athlete recognition locally and state wide.
4. To further a student’s career after graduation being admitted into college and university programs that offer scholarships in this area of study.
 In the last few years, SID has sent 7 STUDENTS to higher education 3 of which are now working through MTSU with ESPN. While another has furthered her career in photography and still another was selected for an internship with Titans Radio and their local college broadcasts.
5. To assist school administration and sports teams with various activities.

b. Photography
c. Video creation
i.  The Wilson Central SID was awarded a national honor as having the best hype video in 2017 and runner-up in 2018.
d. To provide sports information to local media outlets.
e. To provide hands on activities and understand some of the in’s and out’s of broadcasting

6. To update and provide sports website information pertaining to sports including, articles, pictures, schedules, directions to events for parents to use. To continue to provide pictures and information celebrating Senior Athletes with their signing of Letters of Intent to play at the next level.

7. The Sports Information Department at Wilson Central has the #1 used high school sports website in Tennessee. www.wilsoncentralsports.com. 
We have accumulated over 675,000 hits through viewers all across the United States and in some parts of the world. It continues to grow with some 3,000 viewers per month.

8. Pre-covid year,  our NFHSnetwork.com website (broadcasting/streaming) has been recognized as one of the 3 top programs from all over the United States—we continue to strive to be the BEST!!!!
9. With the use of a 24’ mobile media trailer, students can get needed exposure to what is needed to do a broadcast using multiple cameras, computers, and other similar pieces of equipment that ESPN, CBS, NBC and the like would use.
10. Students have the opportunity to work for local newspapers and be compensated for their writing of articles or photography.

STUDENTS ARE GUIDED TO ALLOW THE ABOVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
