Gladeville– One week into the 2020-21 wrestling season, the Wildcats have dominated their way to a 6-0 start.
So far, no team has scored more than 12 points on the 2020 TSSAA State Dual Runner-Up. The lone team to score double digits on Wilson Central was Nolensville, a class AA juggernaut that went to the semifinals in the classification just below the Wildcats.
To start the season with a boom, the Wildcats handled West Creek effortlessly, handing the Coyotes a 82-0 loss.
After this thrashing, the Wildcats struggled to find an opponent amidst the COVID-19 protocol, but they were able to compete in the Page Duals, hosted by Page High School, on December 5.
In this tournament, Wilson Central bruised Franklin 67-9 to begin the tournament. After this, they then went on to hand Halls a 74-6 defeat, coming just before the 70-12 Nolensville victory. After Nolensville, the Wildcats made their presence known to the hosting Page Patriots with a 69-9 blowout. Shortly after, Wilson Central blanked Rockvale 84-0, capping off a 5-0 weekend and tournament victory for the Wildcats.
This start to the season saw the departure of a mere two 2020 grads, Grant Fetters and Levi Stone. This meant that 12 of the 14 wrestlers that led Wilson Central to a second-place finish in 2020 would be returning for this season.
On Tuesday, December 8, the Wildcats do battle with Mount Juliet, Lebanon, and Green Hill in the Wilson County Duals. The matches will begin at 5:30 p.m., and it will be broadcast on the NFHS Network.
