The Wilson Central Lady Wildcats traveled down the Gateway Tuesday Night to take on the Lady Golden Bears of Mt. Juliet. A tough one coming into the game, the Lady Wildcats knew what it had to take to snag their first win of the 2020 season. The dominance asserted early would put the Lady Cats in control for a victorious win of 34-27. Both teams came in with offense on their minds as both managed to put up season highs in points of 34 and 27, respectively. After the first stanza, the Wildcats would hold a 6-2 lead behind the scoring of Kristen Smith, who would find 4 of her total 7 game points, coming in the first quarter of play. Wilson Central would continue this momentum for the next 8 minutes of play before both teams headed to the locker room with Wilson Central leading 15-10 at the break. This is when the Lady Cats would find separation. Scoring a game high 10 points, Kendyle Pickett would find the hoop for 6 of those points in the 3rd quarter and would give her team a 13 point cushion with the final 8 minutes approaching. Wilson Central’s early dominance proved too much to the Lady Golden Bears as the Lady Cats would earn their first victory in a 34-27 thriller. The afore mentioned Pickett would lead all scorers with 10 points, followed by Kristen Smith and Lillian Crutchfield with 7 a piece, cushioned by Breana Fayne with 6, and closed by Asyja Archer-Settles with 4 points. The Lady Cats will now prepare for their first home game on Friday, December 4th, as they will take on cross-town rival Lady Devilettes of Lebanon High School in Wildcat Gymnasium. Be sure to catch that game on the NFHS Network as it will be broadcasted with tip-off at 6:00 pm with the boys followed right after.
Go Lady Wildcats!!
