The Wilson Central High School football team hosted their homecoming football game against Hendersonville on Oct 2. It was a big game as both teams are competing for a high seed in the district. Hendersonville ended up winning the game 28-10 to take first place in the district over all teams as the Commandos remain the only undefeated team in the region. It was a very close first half as Wilson Central led 10-7 heading into halftime, but Hendersonville scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to run away with the lead.
Hendersonville scored the first touchdown of the game with a twelve-yard rushing touchdown from Brent Rowe, but Wilson Central quickly answered back with a 23-yard field goal from Esteban Hurtado to cut the lead to 7-3. After a couple of stops by both teams, Tristan Lewis led the Wildcats on a successful drive to end the half. Lewis finished that drive with an impressive 13-yard touchdown pass to Ezra Widelock. That play was easily the play of the game and you can find it on the highlight video that was released on our Youtube channel –Wilson Central Sports Network–Monday night. The Wildcats didn’t score the rest of the game as the Commandos came out strong in the second half. Zavier Ali had another impressive game as he ran for 106 yards and now has 844 yards through the first seven games of the season.
Wilson Central will travel to Lavergne this week to take on the Wolverines. It will be their last non-district game of the regular season as after this week they play Lebanon and then Station Camp. It is currently fall break for everyone at Wilson Central so if you can’t make the game make sure to tune into our NFHS Network to watch a live broadcast of the Wildcats game. Good luck Wildcats!!!!
