Wildcats News · Fall-Girls Soccer–Lady Wildcats Slide past Green Hill 3-2 in Last Seconds to Secure the Win

The Lady Wildcats traveled to Green Hill on Tuesday night September 22 looking to break a 2 game skid.  Having defeated Green Hill earlier in the year 6-0 the Lady Hawks were not about to allow the Lady Wildcats to repeat that performance.  Wilson Central scored the opening goal mid-way through the half off of the shoe of Sadie Phelan to make the score 1-0.  Green Hill bounced right back to tie the match 1-1 going to halftime.  If the first half had a lot of action, the second half didn’t disappoint.  Phelan once again found the back of the net in the 2nd half for the go ahead score 2-1 but again Green Hill came right back and tied the match up at 2-2 at the 30 min mark of the second half.  With the score tied 2-2 both teams traded field position but the defense of the squads kept the other team at bay.  Wilson Central gave it one last gasp to score when the newly crowned hero Audrey Katzenmiller scored off a P/K with less that 20 seconds left to secure the win for the Lady Wildcats helping them to get their 5th win of the year against 3 losses and a tie.

Wilson Central will now travel up Golden Bear Gateway to take on the Lady Golden Bears of Mt. Juliet on Thursday Sept 24 beginning at 7pm.  With the weather forecast, it may once again rain on the parade when these two teams collide on Thursday.  We will have to wait and see……
