Last night’s Feb 4th game against the Green Wave was too close for the Lady Wildcats. With Gallatin securing the lead by 6 points total, the Wildcats took a hit. Being senior night, both Nicole Brill and Jasmin Angel were
recognized for their accomplishments they have received for their 4 years of playing for Wilson Central.
The first quarter came with a struggle as it was capped at 18-8, Gallatin having a 10 point lead. The Wildcats powered through the second quarter and were able to outscore the Greenwave 18-17. However, the total score was 35-26, headed to the locker room for halftime.The Wildcats proved their worth in the third quarter, coming out of the gate with 24 points, only allowing Gallatin to score 12 of their own. The Wildcats doubled their score in one quarter, forcing into the lead at 50-47. Gallatin prevented Central from scoring the majority of fourth, and raised their own score by 23. The final score after the intense fourth quarter was 70-64, Gallatin taking the win.
Players Campbell Strange, Brill, and Angel all had great games individually. Strange scored 16 points total, bringing the fire with 3 steals, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Following Strange was Brill with 14 total points, as she was 6/10 for her free throws. Senior Angel scored 12 points total, was 3/3 for three pointers, and 4/4 for free throws. The success between these three girls gained the Lady Wildcats 42 of their 64 points. Jakoria Woods and Sydney Dalton also scored 9 and 7 respectively. Kristen Smith, Alecia Winters, and Savannah Kirby topped the girls’ off with 2 points each, and the collective effort demonstrated the girls’ strength in the face of adversity. Although this was a devastating loss, the Central girls played well and to their strengths. As it is important to celebrate the small successes, the Wildcat supporters will wait in anticipation for a much bigger one.
