The Lady Wildcats faced Shelbyville last night and won their second game in as many outings winning 54-44. Both teams stormed up and down the floor throughout the 1st quarter scoring 10-7 in favor of the visitors. Wilson Central got things going in the second period scoring 16 and making the score to a 27-23 halftime lead for the Lady Golden Eagles. Campbell Strange continued to turn heads as she scored 12 points mostly after an injury to her eye during the first half, but she was fortunate enough to be able to jump back into the game in the 2nd half. Entering the third quarter Wilson Central continued their hot scoring pace putting in another 17 points while holding Shelbyville to only 3 making the score 40-30 going into the 4th quarter. Both teams matched scoring in the 4th with 14 points each to make the final score 54-44 allowing the Lady Wildcats to win their 2nd game of the young 2019-20 season. Freshmen Jakoria Woods led the Lady Wildcats with 15 followed by Sydnee Richetto with 14 and Strange’s 12. Rounding out the scoring was Sydney Dalton 7, Jasmin Angel 4 and Nicole Brill, who returned to play sparingly due to a recent ankle fracture in volleyball, scored 2.
The Lady Wildcats will play their first road game on Monday November 25 at Stewarts Creek High School beginning at 6:00pm. They will play the following night at Smyrna November 26 at 6:00.
