Wilson Central came home last night, Monday, March 25, with a 2-0 victory over Merrol Hyde. Sophomore Steven Stone opened the scoring with a 60 yard break away scoring run. Several Merrol Hyde defenders tried to stop him but it ended after he beat every defender in his path. After making his way to the Hawk’s goal, he calmly tucked the ball into the far side corner of the net. For all intents and purposes that was Steven’s first goal for Wilson Central. He did score one off his back last year but the goal was accidental. Freshman Jacob Blue finished the scoring for Wildcats with some fancy footwork that led to a left footed shot and goal. That was Jacob’s first goal for the Wildcats. Senior Austin Wingo started in the net for the Wildcats and helped the boys preserve their first shutout of the season.
The Wildcats currently have a 3-1 record but the season already looks in their favor. The next game for Wilson Central is Friday, March 29, at Centennial High School. JV will start at 5:00 and Varsity at 7:00.
Go Wildcats !!!
