Wildcats News · Winter–Wrestling–Day 1 is good to the Wildcats at the Individual Dual State Tournament.

The Wilson Central Wrestling Team sent 10 grapplers to the TSSAA State Individual Duals this week to compete for state titles in each of the weight classes.  In day one of the three day event Wilson Central showed spectators why they are one of the best wrestling programs in the State of Tennessee.

Micheal Mercante  (106lb) won both matches by pinning his opponents with a total of 3:38 of time.  Following Mercante was Hunter Borders (113lb)–the defending state champion in his weight class from 2018, pinned both of his opponents together in 2 minutes.  Steven Fisak (126lb) won both of his matches one by decision, another by pin.   Alex Pergande won both matches in the (145lb) one by pinfall and the other by decision.

Micheal Kramer–defending state champion in the 285lb class won easily over his competitors both by pin in a total time of 1:13. Kramer def. Grady Bryant (William Blount) by pinfall 0:14, def. Charlie Cole (Daniel Boone) by pinfall 0:59

These wrestlers move on in the tournament on Friday and with wins hopefully in the Championship slated for Saturday.

Wrestlers who qualified for the state tournament which is a great accomplishment but unfortunately lost a match on Thursday were Grant Fetters, Cullen Belcher, Cole Fort,  Anthony Pyron and Levi Stone.  Of these, Belcher and Stone split their matches and winning one.

Congratulations to all the Wrestlers for representing Wilson Central
