Wilson Central traveled to Beech High School on January 22, looking for revenge on the Buccaneers. They came out victorious by a score of 47-39.

Daniel Jackson stood out on the Wildcat offense, picking up 18 points and slamming down a pair of highlight-reel dunks. Caleb Lawrence knocked down a quartet of threes, giving him 12 points on the night while Seth Beck and Tyler Hayes combined for 13 points. The Wildcat offense found their spark against the Bucs, scoring 11 points in the first quarter, 14 in the second, 10 in the third, and 12 in the fourth. They also gave a valiant effort on defense, holding Beech to single digits in every quarter except the third, where they put up 16.

Freshman Kristian Shaw put up 11 points, leading Beech’s offense. Kaleb Powell finished the night with 10 points, closing out double-digit scoring for Beech. After Luke Fleming’s 6-point night, no single player from Beech put up more than 4 points.

The Wildcats slowing down the tempo of their offense helped tremendously, allowing Daniel Jackson and company to capitalize on fast breaks even more efficiently. This also helped the Wildcats find open looks, as Lawrence and Hayes were both very efficient from 3-point land.

Wilson Central returns to one game under .500 at 11-12. They seek revenge on the Blue Devils of Lebanon at home on January 25. Tip-off will take place following the conclusion of the Lady Cats/Lady Blue Devil game. The game will be broadcast on the NFHS Network.
