Winter–Swim–Wilson Central advances swimmers at Riverdale Meet
The Wilson Central Swim Team competed against Riverdale High School on Thursday, Dec. 13. While the Cats came up short in total points, the team won several events and 29 swimmers achieved personal best times!
The Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Madisen Williams, Taylor Dover, Alexis Temple, and Mia Harris won FIRST PLACE in their event with a personal best time. The Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Blaine Robinson, Evan Freeman, Gage Working, and Logan Baker took second place. Later in the meet, the Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Paige Danly, Alexis Temple, Madisen Williams, and
Mia Harris took FIRST PLACE while the Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team again took second. In the final event of the meet, Wilson Central’s Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Paige Danly, Betsey Meleg, Taylor Dover, and Rose Miranda won third place.
Individual event winners included Madisen Williams (1st place 200 Freestyle, 2nd place 500 Freestyle), Blaine Robinson (1st place 200 Freestyle, 1st place 100 Freestyle), Evan Freeman (1st place 200 IM, 1st place 100 Backstroke), Alexis Temple (2nd place 50 Freestyle), Gage Working (1st place 100 Butterfly, 1st place 500 Freestyle), Logan Baker (3rd place 100 Butterfly), Taylor Dover (3rd place 100 Breaststroke), Alex Kolesnikoff (3rd place 100 Backstroke), and Mia Harris (1st place 200 IM, 1st place 100 Butterfly).
Gage Working secured his second individual State competition qualifying time, and Logan Brown qualified for Regional competition.
Twelve Wildcat swimmers have qualified to compete in the Regional competition, and five have punched their tickets for State competition in February.
The Wildcats will compete against Centennial High School on Jan. 5 and will defend their eight-year title as Wilson County Champions on Jan. 18.
