Meet on Nov 6
On Tuesday, November 6 the Wilson Central Swim team traveled to the Gallatin Civic Center for their first meet of the season against Station Camp and Merroll-Hyde Magnet School. The Wildcats came in second overall, and many swimmers placed first in several events as well as breaking personal records. Some swimmers qualified with Regional or State with their times.
Starting off, both the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Madisen Williams, Taylor Dover, Kate Decker, and Mia Harris and the Men’s Medley Relay team of Blaine Robinson, Evan Freeman, Gage Working, and Logan Baker placed 2nd in the events. Later on in the meet, the Women’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Kate Decker, Alexis Temple, Betsey Meleg, and Paige Danly took 2nd, as well as the Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Brandon Hamm, Logan Brown, Isaiah Casey, and Harley Eighmey. The final events of the meet were the Women’s and Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. The Women’s team of Alexis Temple, Katie Arant, Betsey Meleg, and Mia Harris won first place in the event, and the Men’s team of Blaine Robinson, Gage Working, Evan Freeman, and Logan Brown took 2nd in a thrilling finish.
Individual event winners include several of the wildcats. Madisen Williams got 1st in 100 Freestyle, Blaine Robinson placed 1st in both the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle, Mia Harris took 1st in 200 Individual Medley as well as 1st in 100 Butterfly, Evan Freeman placed 1st in 200 Individual Medley, Gage Working got 1st in 100 Butterfly and 1st in 100 Backstroke, and Sadie Patrick placed 1st in 500 Freestyle.
Swimmers who achieved Regional Qualifying times included Madisen Williams, Logan Baker, Gage Working, Taylor Dover, and Kaila Hopper. Swimmers who have punched their ticket to the STATE FINALS include Blaine Robinson, Evan Freeman, and Mia Harris. All 48 members of the swim team contributed important points in this first meet of the season
Meet on Nov 10
The Wilson Central Wildcats had their second meet on Saturday, November 10 at the MTSC High School Invitational. Congratulations to the Swim Team for a HUGE win! The team took FIRST PLACE over swimmers from 15 other high schools.
The Women’s 200 Medley Relay team of Madisen Williams, Kaila Hopper, Alexis Temple, and Mia Harris took second place, while the Men’s 200 Medley Relay team of Blaine Robinson, Evan Freeman, Gage Working, and Logan Baker won a convincing FIRST place. Later in the meet, the Women’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Madisen Williams, Alexis Temple, Paige Danly, and Mia Harris again took second place. The Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Logan Brown, Gage Working, Evan Freeman, and Blaine Robinson took FIRST place in a close finish, beating the next team 1:44.06 to 1:44.11.
Many swimmers won in individual events. Blaine Robinson took 1st in 500 Freestyle, Mia Harris placed 1st in 100 Butterfly as well as 1st in 100 Backstroke, Gage Working placed 2nd in 100 Butterfly, and Evan Freeman took 2nd in 100 Freestyle.
Perhaps most exciting is that 23 Wildcat swimmers earned personal best times in this meet. Those swimmers include Madisen Williams, Mia Harris, Kaila Hopper, Alexis Temple, Sadie Patrick, Logan Brown, Addie Hall, Betsey Meleg, Paige Danly, Jeremy Eduave, Thai Mason, Harper Arant, Logan Baker, Gage Working, Chloe Schiopu, Jerika Eduave, Katie Arant, Alex Kolesnikoff, Cailin Aguilera, Riva Elshorst, Dasha Williams, Alexis Davis, and Taylor Niggl.
The Wildcats will compete in a dual meet against Franklin High School this Thursday night November 15th at the Jimmy Floyd Center.
