After a downpour of rain 30 minutes prior to the first pitch, the Wilson Central Wildcats amazing baseball season came to an end with a loss in the Substate Sectional losing in a pitching duel against Brentwood High School by the score of 2-0. Neither team budged through 4 innings as strikeouts by both pitchers climbed into double digits. Brentwood did not score until the top of 5th inning when they managed to load the bases with no outs. Wildcat pitcher Aaron Hubbell pitched out of the jam giving up one run by a bases loaded walk. After that Hubbell forced a pop up, force out and a strike out on his way to a game high 13 strikeouts for the night. This pitching duel had a total of 28 strikeouts between both teams while only 10 hits were given up.
The final worksheet for the 2018 version of the Wildcats proved to be another masterful coaching job by Anthony Ford. District Runner-up and the Region 5AAA crown.
Congratulations to the Wildcats on a great season!!!!!!
