Boys Varsity Baseball · Spring–Baseball- Wildcats drop 4 game series to Mt. Juliet 4-3,3,1 and Hendersonville 1-0, 5-0

As the regular season is drawing to a close and the district tournament has started, Wilson Central played the top 2 teams by record in District 9AAA to close out the regular season.  First the Wildcats played Mount Juliet on Wednesday April 25th and then again on Friday April 27th.  Senior Aaron Hubbell was on the mound in the first of the two game series throwing a magnificent game allowing only one run which proved to be the downfall of the Wildcats 1-0.  Two days later, Will Wright was pitching a shutout of Mt. Juliet until the Bears scored in the top of the 6th taking a blast over the left field fence to make the score 1-0.   In the bottom of the 6th Wilson Central responded getting runners on 2nd and 3rd with Hubbell batting.  Unfortunately, the center fielder made a diving catch of Hubbell’s fly ball to make the second out.  Tagging up on the fly ball both runners advanced to supposedly tie the score 1-1 with a runner on third with two outs but the the field umpire called the runner on second out when Mt. Juliet threw to the bag to get the third out keeping the score at 1-0.  In the top of the 7th, Mt. Juliet tallied 2 more runs making the score 3-0 as the Wildcats managed 1 run in the bottom of the 7th making the final score 3-1.

Wilson Central then played Hendersonville at home on Senior Night Monday April 30th at 7:00.   Aaron Hubbell took to the mound and again and kept the bats of Hendersonville silent until the top of the 5th when Hendersonville tripled and later scored the lone run.  Hendersonville out hit the Wildcats 4-2 while the Wildcats committed 2 errors.

The following night the Wildcats traveled to Hendersonville and the bats remained silent for Wilson Central and the Commandos took the series scoring a 5-0 win over the Wildcats.

With the regular season now over the District 9AAA tourney was scheduled to begin on Friday however, rain rain rain delayed that until Sunday afternoon.  Wilson Central claiming the 3rd place spot drew Beech in the first round of the tournament.
