The Wildcats will open their District 9AAA Tournament play as the number 6 seed in a wide open boys tournament that has the top 6 teams separated by only 5 losses. Parity is the name of the game for this years District 9 boys teams as many of the teams traded home and home victories or vise-versa. Mt. Juliet boys claimed the #1 seed over Gallatin with a tie breaker followed by Lebanon as the 3rd seed by only 1 game. Hendersonville, Beech and Wilson Central almost had a 3way tie for 4th place, however, Hendersonville got 4th due to their win 7-7 record as both Beech and Wilson Central had 6-8 worksheets.
The Wildcats will take on Hendersonville tonight at 8:30, the final of 4 games being played today….all at Hendersonville High School. The girls semi-final bracket was set Wednesday and Thursday as Beech, Mt. Juliet, Lebanon and Wilson Central were winners and will play in the semi-finals Saturday. Tonight it’s the boys turn at the District Tournament as games will begin at 4:00 as Gallatin takes on Station Camp followed by a 5:30 match up between Lebanon and Beech. The 7:00 game will pit Mt. Juliet vs. Portland and the 8:30 tilt between Wilson Central and tournament host Hendersonville.
The boys tournament should be a dandy as many of the teams split the season and/or played their games to a less than 10 point spread.
