Wilson Central High School boys basketball didn’t open their season like most teams would have liked dropping their first 3 contests. The Wildcats opened the 2017-18 season at home against Summit High School losing by the score of 62-37 followed by a loss at McGavock 76-66. Their third game of the year saw another set back at the hands of Ravenwood 62-36. After that, the schedule seemed to turn around in a quick way winning the next three games….Sycamore 57-32, Franklin Page 54-43 and Stewarts Creek 67-58.
With a record of 3-3 the Wildcats entered the District 9AAA schedule playing at Hendersonville. Unfortunately, the Wildcats could not get the win losing a hard fought 49-47 back and forth contest. Looking to regain the “MO”, Wilson Central traveled to Beech where the Wildcats have had issues winning in recent years. Not on this night. The Wildcats stormed out to lead Beech by as much as 14 in the third. Beech was not throwing in the towel. They made a furious come back to take the lead only to see the Wildcats survive scoring on a 3pt play by Kito Aruh with 2.4 seconds left. With Aruh’s basket to tie, he had to make a foul shot to win the game and as they say….He did!!!!. Wildcats pull out the victory over Beech 56-55.
The next game for the Wildcats is tonight against county foe Lebanon. The game is slated to begin around 7:45 after a Lady Wildcat/Lady Blue Devil tilt. You can see all the action live on NFHSnetwork.com. Log on wilsoncentralsports.com and follow the links.
