The Wildcats traveled a short 14 miles to play the Bulldogs of Smyrna High School August 25th only to see the Bulldogs take a bite out of the Wildcats. It was all Smyrna as Wilson Central fell to the Bulldogs by the score of 43-10.
Smyrna opened the scoring at the 7:03 mark of the 1st quarter on a Blake Watkins 2yd TD run as the PAT was wide left leaving the score 6-0 Bulldogs. Smyrna used a couple of Wildcat turnovers to take a big lead of 20-0 before the Wildcats got in the scoring column. With 3:58 in the 1st half, Wildcat signal caller Aaron Hubbell found Demarius McBroom on a 52 yd catch and run to cut into the Bulldog lead 20-7 which ended up as the halftime score.
Wilson Central got a 24yd field goal from Will LaFollette to creep ever closer to make the score 20-10 but that was all the Wildcat offense could generate as the Bulldogs scored 23 unanswered points capitalizing on turnovers and to win their second game of the young 2017 season.
The Wildcats will be on the road for their third game of the season next week as Wilson Central will travel to Clarksville to take on the Red Hawks of Rossview High School, a new addition to Region 4 6A classification. Game time is slated for 7:00pm.
