Below is a repeat of an earlier article to help those who are still needed information about sports physicals.

Below you will find the necessary information parents and athletes need to know in order to tryout for their sport. If you cannot find your particular sport you can call the front office at Wilson Central High School 615-453-4600.

3 Requirements to tryout for any sport:

tryout 3The TSSAA require every athlete to have a physical prior to ANY participation of ANY kind along with concussion protocol forms.  The physical must be dated April 15 or later and signed concussion forms should be brought to the tryout and submitted to the coach of the sport. There will be other forms issued by the coach of the sport for participation once the athlete has been selected for the team




Any student interested in becoming a member of the Sports Information Department should obtain an application for membership.  These students will be assigned to a class focus group that meets each day. They would be required to signup for making pictures at various sporting events, writing sport stories for our sports website—, help with computer data processing, help with broadcasting (streaming) of the events.  Broadcasters, color commentators, statistical collectors, WCHS hostess or host, photographers, sound and video tech’s are some of the positions we are seeking to fill.  This focus group will be a graded “class” with service hours available.  An Informational form can be obtained here or picked up at the front office of Wilson Central.  For more information email Coach Jay Holladay—

Golf: July 10-11 at pine creek

Sign-in at 3:30 with tryouts beginning at 4:00; walking 9 holes both days

Must have a current physical


Softball will have tryouts on Tuesday and Wednesday JUNE 6 & 7 from 9am-12noon.  All individuals must have a physical, concussion forms and proof of medical insurance.  For further information email Head Coach Melissa Weiland at—


Open gym–every Monday from 4:00-5:30 in the Aux (Volleyball) Gym must have current physical

Tryouts–Wednesday, May 24 to Friday, May 26 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. must have current physical

Lil Wildcats Camp (Grades 3-8)–Monday, July 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. $25 per player

Boys basketball

Boys basketball tryouts are on May 25th at 6 pm. All students MUST have a  current physical dated after April 15.
Girls Basketball—-TBA

Sideline and Competition Cheerleaders

Tryout dates are Monday April 24 thru 27th 4:00 to 6:00


Wilson Central High School will be holding baseball tryouts for the 2017-2018 season on Tuesday, June 6th and Wednesday, June 7th.  Tryouts will be held from 10:00 until 12:30 on both days at Wilson Central’s baseball field.  All prospective players must bring a copy of a current physical and wear proper baseball attire in order to tryout.  Any questions call Coach Ford @ 453-4600 ext. 3145 or email

Traditionally bowling try-outs have been the third week of August…


Monday, June 5th will be the first day of summer conditioning at Cedars of Lebanon SP.

No tryout day for Cross Country.  We have a meeting for prospective CC athletes on Thursday, May 18th at 6:00 PM in the Small Cafeteria of Wilson Central High School


Swimming will begin in October.  Tryouts will be at the Jimmy Floyd Center in Lebanon.  Previous team experience isn’t necessary, but swimmers need to be capable of doing the four basic strokes (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke).  If students/parents have questions, they can contact Coach Major at or Lanita Harris at

Track and field

Track and Field will have an informational meeting in October for the 2018 Spring Season.  Winter Conditioning will begin in November for all athletes not participating in a Winter Sport.  Athletes playing Fall and Winter sports will start with the team after the conclusion of their other sport.  Official season begins in February/March.  All athletes not playing a Fall or Winter sport are encouraged to run Cross Country in the Fall.


Tryouts will be on June 1st at Wilson Central High School tennis courts at 7:00 pm.

Students need to have a physical dated after April 15, 2017, and a copy of their parent’s insurance card.

Girls Soccer

Tryouts have yet to be announced..  For further information please contact the front office at 615-453-4600.  Look for formal dates sometime in June.

Boys Soccer
