Wilson Central High School’s track team continues to look forward to the day they can have their own meets on their own track. Previously constructed 17 years ago, the track was deemed unusable and never met regulations set by the TSSAA to hold meets. However, with only asphalt to train on, safety issues were apparent forcing the runners to travel to nearby tracks to run and train. Construction began approximately 6 weeks ago which upon completion, will allow practices as well as approved meets without the fear of injury and more importantly allow practice to begin right after school instead of traveling to neighboring schools.
As shown in the pictures, new drainage and concrete preparation is underway with the hope the project will be completed prior to the first home football game August 18.
