The Wildcats defended their baseball regular season championship by defeating Beech 2-1 to win the district 9AAA Tournament Championship this past Friday night. Andrew Franklin pitched a gem of a game scattering 5 hits to the Beech batters throwing a complete game. Wilson Central’s bottom of the 3rd is all the Wildcats would need to win. as Mason Mobley and Chase Ford reached 1st and 2nd base. It was Ethan Shelton’s big base hit that scored Mobley from 2nd. Still with no outs in the inning, Dawson Hamilton delivered a 0-1 pitch to left field advancing Shelton to 2nd with Hamilton to 1st but a base running mistake by __________gave an out to Beech. Enter Andrew Franklin as the next batter as he promptly hit a line drive to load the bases Connor Sullivan. Sullivan finally succumbed to Beech pitching with a “went down swinging” at bat to make the 2nd out. Will Hudson fought off multiple pitches before receiving a bases loaded walk allowing the Wildcats to score their 2nd run and what turned out to be the winning run.
The Wildcats will now play at home Monday 5/15 at 7:00pm against the District 10AAA runner-up Clarksville Northeast.
