The Lady Wildcats came roaring back after a disappointing 3-2 loss to Hendersonville on Monday to take down the #1 seeded Lady Bucs of Beech High School 7-3 in the first round of the losers bracket. Beech left 10 runners on base as the Lady Wildcats managed to work themselves out of 2 bases loaded jams late in the game. Sophomore Kaylee Richetto was again inserted in relief of Ashley Foster who had kept the Beech bats from doing a lot of damage holding Beech to 3 runs after 5 innings. Richetto got Beech hitters to pop up for the 2nd and 3rd out of the 5th inning while the 6th inning saw the defense of the Lady Wildcats come up with a couple of “gems” as shortstop Brooke Pfefferle and Richetto once again became spokeswomen for Eureka Vaccums as they grabbed line drive grounders in high pressure situations to throw the runners out at 3rd and 1st base respectively.
Wilson Central will now play again in their 2nd “do or die” softball game today (Wednesday) taking on Lebanon in the 2nd losers bracket game who was also upset the day before. The game will be played at Triple Creek in Gallatin at 6:00pm.
