Track and field team members from all across Middle Tennessee High Schools were invited to compete in the Great 8 Invitational held at Vanderbilt University, hosted by Father Ryan High School.
The Invitational “Great 8” invites only 8 current event leaders in all running and field events from across the Middle Tennessee area to participate. You might say the top runners and event members from the Middle Tennessee area go up against each other to crown a “symbolic champion”. However, in reality it’s the participants going against other runners and the time clock to make preparation for the upcoming regionals and state meet championship meet.
Wilson Central track members that were invited to this event was Baylor Franklin–800 meter run, Joel Barlow–1600 meter run, KJ Laribo–400 meter dash, John Elrod–1600 meter run, Kolin Miller–Boys Discus, Kenan Ward–High Jump, Zoe Vlk–Girls Discus
Here are the results listed below of the Great 8 invitational. Congratulations to our Wildcats in the Great 8. A special congrats to Baylor, Kenan, Joel and John for their outstanding finishes in their running events and to Kolin for his top 4 finish in the discus. All finished in the top 6 making them some of the best runners and field participants in the Middle Tennessee Area if not the entire State of Tennessee.
These individuals have a unique opportunity to participate at the upcoming TSSAA State Championships better known as the Spring Fling. Good luck in the next weeks Sub sectional track meet.
