The Lady Wildcats returned from the Bob Jones Invitational Softball Tournament in Madison, Alabama having played 5 games while winning their first game on Thursday and being victimized by the time limit and settling for a tie for the the second. On Friday, they split their games defeating Cullman, Alabama 3-0 before losing to Austin High School from Decatur, Alabama 8-5 in the night cap. The Lady Wildcats spotted Austin 6 runs in the first two innings before Wilson Central scored all their runs in the 3rd to make the score 6-5. Austin came up with two more in the 4th inning to re-take the lead that Central would never overcome. This completed the pool play for the Lady Wildcats that set up for the Saturday Single Elimination Tournament play.
The first game on Saturday pitted the Lady Wildcats vs. Sumiton Christian from Sumiton Alabama. Again, Wilson Central gave up an early 5-0 lead to the opposition before Central could score 2 of their own in the bottom of the 2nd. The final score was 6-3 as the base stealing from Sumiton and errors committed by Central were the ultimate downfall for the Lady Wildcats.
Wilson Central will bring a 12-8 record into Monday’s April 10 game against Creek Wood from Dickson County. First pitch is slated for 5:00.
