Lebanon—Ryan Hill pitching for the Wildcats had plenty in his tank as he threw all 7 innings for the big district 9AAA win over Beech 2-1. Hill scattered 6 hits to the Beech Batters while they only managed to score 1 run in the contest. The Bucs did have a big chance to score some runs as the boys in orange and blue loaded the bases in the top of the 6th. Wildcat Head Coach Anthony Ford had a short but what turned out to be a productive meeting on the mound for the Wildcats as Hill pitched out of trouble with a little help from his defensive teammates. With a strikeout recorded in the inning, Beech Buccaneer hitter Smith hits a sacrifice fly to deep right field to score one run for Beech. Thanks to a pinpoint accurate throw from Wildcat right fielder Andrew Franklin Beech runners were held to 1st and 2nd base with 2 outs. Hill was again helped out defensively by his second baseman Hudson as he tracked down a line drive to end the inning while stranding 2 baserunners for Beech and more importantly preserving the 2-1 lead. Beech still had 3 outs to work with in the top of the 7th however Hill faced each of the Beech batters and each flied out to end the game with Wilson Central on top.
Hill earned the win for Wilson Central as he tossed the complete game, seven innings, allowing only one run, six hits, striking out four, and walking one for the earlier in the day rankings of the #2 team in Tennessee. Hail took the loss for Beech as he went six innings, allowing two runs, two hits, and striking out 11.
Andrew Franklin and Ethan Shelton each collected one hit to lead Wilson Central.
The Wildcats were scheduled to play on Wednesday vs. Gallatin but once again mother nature stepped in to cancel the contest. This game has been re-scheduled for Thursday April 6.
