Wilson Central’s Boys’ Soccer team opened district play with a solid win over Beech High School on Tuesday night. Central’s Si Gutierrez opened scoring in the 19th minute with the assist coming from keeper Kellen Lively sending an excellent punt from his end of the field. Senior Ruben Arredondo added to the lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half to put the Wildcats up at halftime 2-0 (assist from Yovany Rayo). Late in the second half James Graham scored the game’s final goal on a penalty to seal the victory for the Wildcats 3-0. The team now holds a 7-1 record and visits district opponent Station Camp High School on Friday.
In Junior Varsity action, the Wildcats secured their fourth win of the season and handed Beech their first loss. Junior Dalton Peck struck early in the second half on a corner served from Junior Cesar Hurtado. The second and final goal of the game was scored in the 49th minute by Freshmen Bryson Goode (assist Eusebiu Gal-Chis). Junior Varsity remains undefeated at 4-0 in the regular season and travels to Station Camp on Firday.
