The Wilson Central Boys’ Soccer team was victorious in it’s first road game of the regular season hosted at Merrol Hyde Magnet in Hendersonville Tuesday night. Senior James Graham scored the game’s first goal at the 19th minute mark on an opportunistic breakaway goal on a misplay by the Merrol Hyde defense. Later in the first half Senior Tyler Gilbert put the team up 2-0 with the assist coming from Graham. Merrol Hyde struck early in the second half on a well-served corner but Wilson Central’s Adam Williams scored from 15 yards out shortly thereafter to keep the goal differential at two. Merrol Hyde scored a 2nd goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game on a penalty kick to pull the Hawks back to within one goal. The victory was sealed on a penalty kick by James Graham in the 77th minute of action with the final ending in the 4-2 victory for the Wildcats. The team opens district action at Lebanon on Thursday (3/31). Junior Varsity game begins at 5:00 pm with the Varsity kicking off at 7:00 pm.
