Multiple Teams · Basketball—Lady Wildcats honored individually by District 9AAA coaches

Usually at the end of any sports season a banquet is held to honor those participants that made the season for their school what it was.  District 9AAA composed of schools from Station Camp, Beech, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Portland, Lebanon, Mt. Juliet and Wilson Central got together on Sunday and held their annual awards banquet as players received this honor with plaques voted on by coaches from the other schools.  Making the all-district team is a big deal.  It’s what the other coaches think about their opponent and the ability that these player displayed throughout the entire basketball season not just
2-3 games in a tournament.  The Lady Wildcats were fortunate to have 3 ladies honored on this years team.
Senior Piper Elrod and Freshmen Lindsay Freeman were voted to the all-district team as Elrod averaged 48% from the field while hitting 74 three pointers while connecting on 67% from the foul line.  She dished out 60 assists while leading team in steals with 44.  All this while quarterbacking the team from the point guard position.  LindsaIMG_6099y Freeman hit on 53% of her field goal shots and connecting on 74-99 foul shots for 74%.  The best thing you can say about Freeman is “she’s a freshmen”.  The Lady Wildcats placed a third player on the All-District team—Addision Byrd.  While shooting 54% from the field, she connected on 104 3-pointers hitting 39% from the arc.  SIMG_5943 (1)he led the Lady Wildcats with 104 defensive rebounds while dishing out 42 assists to go along with 41 steals while averaging 17.4 points a game.  Addison, a Carson Newman signee, was also selected by the District 9 AAA coaches as being the Most Valuable Player of all the players from all 8 district teams. From the Wildcat Nation—- Congratulations to Piper Elrod, Lindsey Freeman and Addison Byrd.
