Track & Field–Runners Run away with Sectional titles–ADVANCE TO STATE SPRING FLING

The Wildcat “tracksters” participated in the Sectional Track Meet on Tuesday May 16 and brought home just a few awards that will qualify them to run in the TSSAA spring fling next week.

DSC_0170Joel Barlow, Cumberland University signee continued his dominance in the 3200 meter run to capture 1st place in the sectional and will now get to show his abilities on a state wide stage next week in Murfreesboro.  Also joining Barlow is University of Tennessee signee John Elrod who won in his speciality–the 1600 meter run. DSC_0221Junior Baylor Franklin  won his event in the 800 meter run along with teammate John Elrod who placed 4th in the same event. Others winning or qualifying for the Wildcats were IMG_6908K.J. Laribo who finished 4th in the 400 meter race, and the members of the 4×800 who finished 3rd  Nathan Peterson, Grant Pody, Joel Barlow, and Baylor Franklin.

DSC_0097Lastly, Freshmen Zoe Vlk qualified in the discus with a 119 ft toss to also qualify for the Spring Fling.

The Spring Fling is held at MTSU’s Track and Soccer stadium. Zoe will compete on the 25th at 11:30. All the boys running events are on the 26th starting with the 4×800 Relay at 3:00.
