The Wilson Central HS Track and Field team composed of 40 or more members have begun their season with some swagger. Competing against some of the top teams in Tennessee, the team is representing WCHS at a high level.
Coached by Jordan Simpkins, the team began the season with a scrimmage at Mt. Juliet on March 7 and 8th. This meet was followed by the first regular season competition held at Brentwood Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. The most recent competition was held March 25 at the Hardin Valley Invitational in Knoxville where many of the top runners in the region participated. Below are some of the results:
Freshman Jaycie Hitt set a school record girls long jump with 15’ 5”
Junior Garrett Todd set a school record boys long jump with 20’ 4”
Junior Kolin Miller set a school record in discus breaking his brother’s record with a 146’2” throw, medaling.
Baylor Franklin finished 1st with a school record 800m time of 1:57 ranking him first in the state of Tennessee this year
Joel Barlow finished 1st with a school record 3200m time of 9:29 ranking him first in the state of Tennessee this year

The boys team finished 4th overall with only 15 Central boys competing in the meet against many of the best athletes and programs in the state and some from around the region.
