Soccer–Wildcats claim runner-up in 840 Challenge

The Wilson Central Boys Soccer Team competed in the 2nd annual I-840 challenge this past weekend.  Teams participating were Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Watertown, Shelbyville and Lavergne. The Wildcats lost a heartbreaker to Lavergne in the tournament opener 1-0 as Lavergne scored on a corner kick in the 75th minute to secure the win. Wilson Central bounced back Saturday morning with a win against Watertown 4-0 with goals coming from Zach Hinchman (unassisted), Si Gutierrez (assist Tyler Gilbert), Denton Heffington (assist Si Gutierrez), and Julio Cervantes (assist Casey Bramble). Later in the evening Wilson Central played their second game of the day and prevailed over  Shelbyville Central 4-1 on goals from Si Gutierrez (assist James Graham), Casey Bramble (unassisted), Barrett Streeter (assist Tyler Gilbert), and Tyler Gilbert (unassisted) . The Wildcats finished the tournament placing second behind Shelbyville Central. Wilson Central Goal Keeper Kellen Lively received the defensive MVP award only allowing two goals during the tournament. Edgar Comparo of Shelbyville Central was awarded the Golden Boot for most goals scored in the tournament.

Shelbyville Central- 20pts
Wilson Central – 19pts
Mt. Juliet- 19pts
Lebanon- 15pts
Lavergne- 8pts
Watertown- 0pts

The Wildcats will play a home match on Wednesday March 22 at 7:00pm against Glencliff High School. Junior Varsity action begins at 5:00pm.  GO WILDCATS!!!!
