NASHVILLE—The Wilson Central Lady Wildcats under new Head Coach Ryan Jent opened its 2017 tennis campaign on the road against University School of Nashville, and were handed a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Lady Tigers.  Jent was named head coach in February after long-time coach Jay “Doc” Holladay, who had served as coach for 8 years, was asked to become Sports Information Director by Mr. Travis Mayfield, Principal of WCHS. Holladay now assumes the roll as SID for the Athletic Department and will oversee the sports website and continue to serve as broadcast coordinator for all sports associated with the NFHSnetwork.com.

USN (1-0) proved to be a formidable opponent for the Lady Wildcats as the Lady Tigers won two of the last three Division II-A state titles.

Wilson Central (0-1) got its two points in doubles as Senior Lani Lee and Sophomore Sydney Miller partnered for an 8-0 win at the number two doubles position. Sophomores Alex Roanhouse and Kaylee Wilson earned an 8-4 win at number three doubles.

Both the boys and girls teams will open District 9-AAA play with a visit to Lebanon on Tuesday, March 21. The Wilson Central netters then will HOST Mt. Juliet in a district matchup two days later on Thursday, March 23 while finishing the week by hosting Blackman on Friday, March 24. All match times are slated for 4 pm.
